Standing Out Above the Other Accounts
Social media is not an organic software option that initiates popularity based on user activity. That’s how it is sold to us, but the reality is, social media companies control social media platforms. With that control, they will manage who gets popular and who doesn’t. There is an algorithmic component, but these things are managed.
What this means is two things. One, you can still “game” algorithms slightly, because there are too many accounts for perfect oversight, and certain things go viral despite the censors. Two, when you understand how social media actually works, you’re better able to find your “groove” based on existing management practices.
With that in mind, we’ve briefly collected five ways you can spruce up your present social media profile for enhanced impact, reach, and visibility.
- Share Aesthetically Interesting Photos
An interesting, unbiased, qualitative photo is always going to draw in an audience. Accordingly, when you encounter pictures that move you emotionally, well, share them. You’ll impact others, and they’ll likely share your content. When your content gets shared, that ultimately increases your visibility as regards algorithmic management. - Distribute Funny or Cute Pictures of Pets
Everybody loves pets, and pets do funny things all the time. If you had a dime for every instance a cat got spooked and ran headlong into a wall, you would be richer than the wildest dreams of Elon Musk and Bill Gates combined. Cats are hilarious. Dogs are hilarious. Raccoons are sometimes funny, sometimes terrifying, and sometimes downright crazy.
Whenever you see a picture of an animal that prompts you to react, share that picture. Others will likely feel the same as you. Also, if you’ve got an animal, then get photos, get video, and share it. Even if your cat is just lying around, the soft cuteness of that animal on your living room’s carpet will likely invite a positive response. So lean into that.

- Be a One-Person Meme Scheme Dream Team
People love to laugh. Don’t you love to laugh? So give them laughs. Share memes. Also, make your own memes. Did you know you can very easily make memes of yourself using Facetune’s selfie captions? It’s pretty simple. Also, the caption option can be used simply to add information about important photos; it need not necessarily be a humorous application.
That said, a good meme will go worldwide fast. Now, there are issues with “spicy” memes, so be careful not to get yourself in trouble—though as with any dish, a little spice is generally nice. But you don’t want to take the cap off the pepper and dump the whole thing on dinner, that’ll ruin the food. Find your balance. - Share Popular Content From Other Social Media Influencers
What’s trending? Share that, and lean into the flow of online traffic. Every month or two some celebrity goes to court over something salacious, share that info as it gets popular. Is there a movie trending? Give your hot take on it, screenshot that hot take, and share it across multiple social media channels.
Social media platforms are designed to push and celebrate popular trends. The idea is to keep people spending time on varying platforms. Accordingly, anything which generates engagement gets promoted, or otherwise rewarded. Okay then, understand that, and use such information to enhance your own accounts.

- Get involved in the Comment Section; it Activates the Algorithm
Comments also prompt algorithms to pay attention, as comments actually indicate more engagement than a simple “like”, or time spent observing an image on a given profile. If you can get a long comment thread going on a picture, video, or other social media post, it’s a good idea for fostering visibility overall.
Optimizing Social Media For More Influential Visibility
Aesthetically interesting photos like extremely attractive people or gorgeous natural landscapes tend to draw in viewers. Everybody loves cats, dogs, birds, raccoons, foxes, and other cute critters doing cute critter things; acquire and share such media with regularity. Be your own meme dream team. Share generally popular content. Get involved in the comments.
These five things will do a lot to enhance the traffic, engagement, visibility, and overall popularity of your social media profile.
