You’ve purchased your hair system for men. You’ve applied your tape or liquid adhesive onto the base. Now, it’s time to attach it to your head. But wait! It’s not as easy as it looked or seemed. You have to place it properly onto your scalp or risk having it look unnatural which will not only make it obvious you’re wearing a men’s toupee, but also make it uncomfortable. What you will need
- Mirror
- Spray bottle
- Rite Positioning Spray
- Washable marker
Pinpoint the correct location
First, you need to pinpoint the right location where you will attach your hair system. Raise your eyebrows as if you are looking towards the ceiling. Run your fingers along your forehead and locate the area where your soft facial tissue meets with the harder cranial tissue. An approximate ½ inch above this border is where your hairline starts. Place your finger on the edge of the soft facial tissue and using your other hand, mark the spot above your finger.
Note: Alternatively, you can use the more common method of placing your four fingers above your eyebrows. The top point is where your hairline starts.
Use your positioning spray
Once your hairline is located, apply some Rite Positioning Spray down on your scalp. This is important because it temporarily suspends the hold of your adhesive which gives you a few extra moments to properly adjust and position the hair system. Without this, the unit may stick to your scalp immediately which will not only make a mess but make the process irksome with you having to remove it again and reapply the adhesive.
This is an essential step! Without it, the unit may immediately stick to your scalp as soon as it makes contact with your skin. This will make a terrible mess and a terribly crooked hair system.
Note: Consider using the Rite Positioning Spray underneath your unit for even more seconds for adjustment before it starts to bond.
Place your hair system
It’s now time to place your toupee hair system. Grab your unit by both sides and slowly and gently lower it on your scalp. Make sure the entire base is touching your head at once. Once this is done, move it freely until it is aligned with the marked spot you made earlier. Remember, the Rite Positioning Spray will allow you a few moments to move it around so try and do this as quickly as possible. Once the placement is complete, wait a few minutes for the alcohol from the spray to wear off before patting down your unit to secure the adhesive’s bond.
You’re done! Style your hair
Your hair system is now attached and should be properly placed on your hairline. Now is the fun part — styling your hair! Generally, one should wait 24 hours before applying any water or showering to allow the bond to cure. However, you can slightly wet your hair after a few hours and use a vent brush to style your hair. Alternatively, you can use your fingers to get the hairstyle you desire!
