Acrylic paint marker pens are particularly appealing for both adorning common home items and keeping children occupied during school breaks.
In fact, some people prefer them over the more conventional acrylic painting done by artists with a brush and palette.
What causes this? What qualities distinguish a quality acrylic paint pen set?
1: Water-Based Paint
Acrylic paint markers, oil-based makers, and permanent ink marker pens are all loosely referred to as “paint markers.” Consequently, it’s crucial to understand exactly what acrylic paint pens are not.
If you’ve ever used a pen that required a vigorous shake before use so the ball bearing could mix the paint and oil, you’ve probably encountered oil-based paint pens.
Since these markers are oil solvent based and have a strong odor, they shouldn’t be used near youngsters or in poorly ventilated locations
Markers made of oil will take much longer to dry than acrylic ones. Oil-based markers will act significantly differently from their acrylic equivalents even though they can be used on surfaces identical to those materials.
The paint has the advantage of not needing to be “sealed” and tends to sit a little bit better on porous surfaces (more on this later).
However, they are more prone to surface bleeding on non-porous materials like paper and card.
Canvas Paint Markers and permanent pens like Sharpie® are occasionally mistaken for each other. They behave quite differently because they are based on ink rather than paint, which is the key distinction.
They are very restricted, aside from drying quickly and functioning effectively on white surfaces. Both darker surfaces and porous surfaces will not effectively display the ink. With ink, blending and layering are not possible.
- Flexibility
Simply said, you can use acrylic paint marker pens anywhere! It doesn’t matter if the surface is smooth or rough, light or dark.
You name it: porcelain, glass, plastic, cloth, wood, metal, rubber, or leather!
Therefore, personalizing whatever you own can be a lot of fun, whether you’re designing a mug, a key chain, or a T-shirt.
But maybe the most well-liked application for acrylic paint pens is rock painting (sometimes referred to as stone or pebble painting).
Rocks, which come in a variety of sizes and shapes, are wonderful decorations for kids’ rooms or wonderful gifts.
- Security
Acrylic marker pens are quite popular among people of all ages, especially kids, as they are a water-based paint (though they are generally not recommended for those under the age of 3).
The pens provide a great compromise between being washable off your hands with some soap and water while also being permanent (described in the next section).
Wearing an apron is a good idea, especially for younger kids, to prevent paint from getting on their clothes because once the paint dries, it will be irreversible.
Always make sure the paint you use with acrylic paint pens is suitable for food and drink before using it on anything you intend to use to eat or drink from.
The majority of paint pens on the market are mainly meant for aesthetic purposes.
It also applies to dishwashing safety. Some manufacturers will assert that running your ornamental items through the dishwasher is completely safe. However, we advise against doing this.
The last thing you want to do is run the risk of damaging something you’ve worked on for hours in a dishwasher.
Lastly, make sure any pens you purchase are non-toxic.
- Features
You might have noticed that the majority of acrylic paint pen Markers Write on Wood are marketed as permanent. This is somewhat accurate! Let me clarify.
The paint from high-quality acrylic pens will cure permanently on porous (or matte) surfaces including wood, textiles, paper, and stone.
Therefore, you may relax knowing that your artwork will last.
The paint will not be entirely permanent after drying if you want to use the pens on non-porous (or glossy) surfaces like glass, mirror, ceramic, or metal.
Additionally, drying time will be longer than it would be on a porous surface. Acrylic paint is prone to chipping and breaking on glossy surfaces.
- Usability
The fact that paint pens are frequently less fussy and messy than brushes is one of their main advantages. Pallets and brushes don’t need to be cleaned. Simply replace the pen’s cap when you are done.
Additionally, there is no paint waste, unlike with traditional painting when some paint is frequently left on the pallet.
The majority of people feel they have better control with a pen than they do with a brush, which is maybe the biggest advantage.
This makes obvious sense given that the majority of us routinely use pens or pencils.
Make sure the pens you select are straightforward and simple to use. Simply shake the Zieler acrylic paint pens before pressing the nib down on any paper or card until you see the paint come out.
